About
If you’re new here, my name is Annaliese and I bring magic into real life through supernatural and contemporary stories.
Hi, I’m Annaliese Morgan, author, traveller, and solo mum to two boys, Max and Woody. The three of us are more like the Three Musketeers. We also have a Basset hound called Pineapple, who is decidedly more meh than Musketeer.
I ditched the third-person bio because it sounded boring, unfriendly, and grey-trouser-suit-wearing, none of which I am.
In a former life, I was an award-winning Advanced Veterinary Surgical Nurse in the UK. I co-authored a veterinary anaesthesia and analgesia textbook for the BSAVA in 1999, followed by three nursing exam guides in 2007–2009, and in 2008 I opened the UK’s first pet health spa. I also published Desperate Housepets in 2014 and ran a widely-loved autobiographical blog, The Annaliese Journals… terrible title, occasionally dodgy writing, but thousands of people were inspired by it, which is the only part that matters.
I’ve been a writer and traveller since childhood. But it was surviving a near-fatal motorbike accident — eleven operations, relearning to walk — alongside losing my brother to suicide and going through divorce in 2009, that made me throw my last ‘f*** you, life’ in the bin and decide to level up.
After years of soul-searching and trekking across the planet, I combined my edginess and love of the charmed realms with fiction, and pivoted to writing supernatural and contemporary stories, primarily for young and new adults.
I hold accredited diplomas in symbology, vampirology, ancient Egyptian magic, and independent publishing. I am currently studying dragons.
My mission is simple: to encourage young and new adults to embrace being original and themselves, not to feel as alone as I always did.
I hope I move you.
Annaliese
